Pauline Cusack, LL.B, CEO
Ms. Cusack is a graduate of Dalhousie Law School and is a founding director of Pacific Business & Law Institute. She is also a founding director of the non-profit, public policy research organization the Summit Institute Society and President and Director of the Asia Pacific Institute, the latter of which she founded in Hawaii in the late 1980’s. She has been involved in the research, organization and direction of hundreds of conferences across the country for almost twenty years. Pauline is originally from Nova Scotia and moved to Vancouver in 1980. She has experience in international development having worked in Cameroon, West Africa as Directrice of College Fougou in Bangwa.
Prior to founding PBLI, Pauline was a partner at a full-service, downtown law firm specializing in real estate development, corporate and commercial law. She has been on various boards over the years and at present volunteers as a member of the Board of Governors of Van Dusen Botanical Garden Association in Vancouver. She is the mother of two sons and is a keen gardener.

Janelle O'Connor, B.A., LL.B.,
Director of Programming
Janelle completed her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Saskatchewan, before completing her law degree at of University of Alberta, and the Intensive program in Aboriginal Lands, Resources and Government at Osgoode Hall Law School. Prior to joining PBLI in the summer of 2007, Ms. O'Connor worked in civil litigation, primarily in the defence of school boards, hospitals and municipalities, at a local Vancouver law firm. Janelle’s personal and professional research interests are in the socio-legal field, particularly as it pertains to Aboriginal people. She is currently an adjucant professor at UBC in the Department of Sociology.

Abbey-Jane McGrath, J.D., Director of Programming
Abbey-Jane McGrath first joined PBLI in 2001. She is a graduate of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and McGill University’s Film and Communication Program. Professionally, she has worked in the Vancouver Film Industry, with various communications firms, and in the legal and publishing worlds. She lives with three red-heads on beautiful Bowen Island.

Angela Zhou, Data Entry Specialist
Angela is responsible for refining and verifying PBLI mailing lists. She enters new data as we receive it, and assists doing some administrative work as required. She is proficient in: MS Access, Word, Excel and Outlook. She is an experienced Data Entry Clerk and also skilled in SQL Server and FoxPro. Before joined PBLI, she worked for Nanjing Education Bureau, China as a Database Developer and an Office Assistant. She has a strong interest in Database development and office affairs. She graduated at Nanjing Institute of Meteorology, China with a Diploma in software applications. At present she is studying Applied Database Administration and Design program at BCIT, Vancouver. She loves to travel, swim, and enjoys cooking. |
